Tool recycling

One-way street becomes roundabout

With our idea of tool recycling, tools do not necessarily have to end up in the “dead end garbage mountain” at the end of their life. As a consequence of our sustainability strategy of considering the entire economic cycle from start to finish in terms of sustainability and resource scarcity, we are currently working on a project that starts at the supposed end point of the product life cycle:

  • When new purchases are made, unusable or discarded old tools can be handed in to cooperating dealers in tool recycling boxes.
  • In return, the customer receives a small bonus.
  • In the further process, the old tools are separated according to components, checked for their possible reusability, reconditioned if necessary and used again to manufacture other products. Last stop garbage mountain? We're turning the wheel around again... Unfortunately, waste separation for tools has so far often just meant getting rid of them yourself. The result: the garbage mountain grows.

Steel to steel. Plastic to plastic... Separation by component offers the possibility of reusing material resources after disposal.

And where are we?

The pilot project is already underway with participating partners. Tool recycling boxes have been placed in specialist shops and are being advertised. We hope for broad participation from other trading partners, manufacturers and market participants! If you are interested in participating, please feel free to contact us at any time: info.de@wiha.com Only TOGETHER can this idea become a really great opportunity to recover a really critical amount of old tool resources and achieve a noticeable effect in terms of saving resources, avoiding waste and protecting the climate.
