The award was granted to the Wiha tool backpack sets and the multifunctional pliers 8in1 electric in the Industry/Tools category of the Product sector. The iF Design Award is presented once a year by world's oldest independent design institution, the iF International Forum Design GmbH.
Both products were able to convince the 132-member jury of international experts in a variety of evaluationcriteria. These included, in addition to the shape and design, also the concept and functionality, the distinguishing characteristics and the benefits for society. There were many applicants – the jurors had to choose among almost 11,000 entries from 72 countries to confer the highly sought-after seal of quality.
For the Wiha tool backpack sets, the iF DESIGN AWARD 2024 is already the sixth award and for the multifunctional pliers 8in1 it is the second such recognition following the German Design Award 2024. Wiha marketing manager Sven Wilde said: ”Our tool backpack is an absolute record winner with six awards already. These include the Red Dot Product Design Award 2023, the Focus Open Silver Award 2023, the German Design Award 2024, the Plus X Award in four categories and, most recently, the Designplus Award powered by Light+Building. Next to this striking award success, the feedback from our trade partners and professional users is equally positive, which is just as important to us. In our opinion, the interrelated factors design, function and quality constitute a comprehensive design concept that fulfills the best of all purposes – to offer real and noticeable added value and benefit to professional users in their everyday work.”
Wiha is equally pleased about the second award for its multifunctional pliers 8in1 electric. The pliers can be used to cover eight typical applications of professional electricians.
