Hand tool manufacturer Wiha is extending its product range for electricians with several new products and fully insulated set compilations. The Wiha hacksaw electric, a new torque screwdriver with T-handle (5–14 Nm) and comprehensive tool sets with ratchet wrenches and single open-end spanners are set to bring users multiple advantages. Each product excels in its own way with regards to handling, efficiency and accessibility. However, they all have one thing in common: no compromises have been made regarding safety and insulation. The manufacturer states that these fresh additions to the existing Wiha range for electricians are based on even closer understanding of the professional segment's true requirements.
Hacksaw electric
The very first saw in the Wiha range is specially designed for use by electricians and electrically skilled persons. It is eminently suitable for sawing plastic or electrical installation pipes and plastic and metal cable ducts. The fine-toothed saw blade ensures a clean cut. Extremely durable and long-lasting, this bi-metal saw blade ensures reductions in costs and can be quickly and easily changed by undoing the plastic screw. The ergonomic handle is designed for both right- and left-handed use. These saws are suitable for work in environments exposed up to 1,000 V AC, thanks to each hacksaw undergoing individual item testing at 10,000 V AC.
Torque screwdriver with T-handle TorqueVario®-S T electric 5–14 Nm
Controlled fastening to specified torques forms part of typical tasks in industrial assembly or the electrician's trade. This new, adjustable torque tool with a T-handle can cover a wide application range between 5 and 14 Nm. The T-handle with a ComfortGrip makes it significantly easier for users to hold the tool, transmitting high torques comfortably and effortlessly. The insulated, flexibly replaceable torque blades for T-handles are individually tested at 10,000 V AC and approved for tasks in environments exposed up to 1,000 V AC. The use of a shielded torque tool not only protects the material and ensures user safety, but also safeguards against warranty claims or the need for rectification work.
Comprehensive fully insulated single open-end spanner and ratchet wrench
Fully insulated tools need to be used to safely install terminals and sleeves, for conductor connections, fastening of conductor lines or work on live parts. Wiha now offers new fully insulated single open-end spanners and also ratchet wrench sets in comprehensive 20-piece kits. Using these tools can reduce the risk of short circuits and guarantees user safety. Permitted for use in environments exposed up to 1,000 V AC, these tools are individually tested at 10,000 V AC and bring a whole host of advantages. The 15° position of jaws on the single open
end spanner (6–32 mm) ensures improved access to confined spaces. In the ratchet spanners, an integrated switching lever provides a flexible setting between left and right rotation. Low-lying screws can be easily reached thanks to suitable extension inserts in the ratchet.
"Our view of the electrician's trade's varied needs, wants and special requirements is becoming increasingly more focused. We have been working closely together with users in the electrician's trade. Work activities, safety vulnerabilities and gaps in the range are being analysed on a continuous basis. The analysis results serve as the basis for product line extensions. We're now able to cross off a few more things from the electricians' wish list that we have compiled," states Christian Hilbert, Segment Manager at Wiha, explaining the extension to the range.
